About this tour
Luxor was Thebes, the city of Amun, and its West Bank was where the pharaohs built their tombs and memorial temples. This day takes you through the best of it with your own Egyptologist guide.
You start in the Valley of the Kings and visit its best-known tombs, then move on to the terraced Temple of Hatshepsut, the Colossi of Memnon and the great temple of Medinet Habu. We also stop at an alabaster workshop, free of charge, where you can see the stone being worked and pick up souvenirs.
In the evening you cross to Karnak for the sound and light show, a narrated walk through the temple grounds that ends beside the Sacred Lake. Transport is door to door in an air-conditioned vehicle, and all entry tickets are paid in advance.
Is the Luxor West Bank day tour right for you?
This day is for travelers who want the West Bank in full, followed by a relaxed evening. The West Bank is where the pharaohs built their tombs and memorial temples, and this tour visits four of its best-known sites with your own Egyptologist guide.
Medinet Habu is the stop many visitors miss, and its deep carvings are worth the time. After a free visit to an alabaster workshop, you cross to Karnak for the sound and light show by the Sacred Lake. Read more in UNESCO’s Ancient Thebes listing.
The Valley of the Kings is hot and bright by late morning, so a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen are useful. Wear shoes with good grip for the tomb slopes, and bring a light layer for the evening at Karnak.
