About this tour

You can see the heart of ancient Thebes in one day from the Red Sea coast. We pick you up from your hotel in Hurghada, El Gouna or Marsa Alam and drive you to Luxor.

On the East Bank you spend about an hour and a half at Karnak, walking through the Hypostyle Hall and its 134 columns, then an hour at Luxor Temple. On the West Bank you have about two hours among the royal tombs of the Valley of the Kings, an hour at Queen Hatshepsut’s temple at Deir el-Bahari and a short stop at the Colossi of Memnon, two statues of Amenhotep III that have stood for more than 3,400 years.

A professional Egyptologist guides you all day. We stop at an alabaster workshop to see how the stone is carved, and the day ends with an Egyptian meal at a restaurant before the drive back. Every entrance ticket is already paid.

Is a Luxor day trip from Hurghada worth it?

This day is for travelers on a Red Sea holiday who want to see the heart of ancient Thebes without changing hotels. We pick you up in Hurghada, El Gouna or Marsa Alam and drive you to Luxor and back.

You spend about an hour and a half at Karnak, with the 134 columns of the Hypostyle Hall, an hour at Luxor Temple, about two hours in the Valley of the Kings, an hour at Hatshepsut’s temple and a short stop at the Colossi of Memnon. UNESCO’s Ancient Thebes listing explains why these sites matter.

The day starts early and the drive is long, so bring a light layer for the car, a hat, sunscreen and comfortable shoes. An Egyptian meal is included, but drinks at the restaurant are extra.
